Chuck’s daughter—and one of my girl scouts—came to my first signing at Main Street Books in St. Charles. I hope to inspire these kids to reach for their dreams, just as I was inspired to reach for mine.

Signing books at Borders-Mid Rivers in St. Peters, Missouri in June.

I can write no matter where I am. But move it outside with a bottle of Yoo-Hoo and life is really good.

A blast from the past at Baileywick Books in New Milford, Connecticut. Some fellow Immaculate High School alum stopped by my signing to show their support.

John Cross and I at Foul Play Bookstore in Westerville, Ohio. John and Toni, the store’s owners, were gracious hosts.

Listening to a book club discuss your book is like being the proverbial fly on the wall. And while I agreed with their choice for a young Julia Roberts to play Elise in a Lifetime movie of Jury of One (we can dream, can’t we?), Russell Crowe doesn’t get my vote for Mitch. Sorry guys.

Fellow author Heather Webber and I at Bouchercon 36 in Chicago. We had a blast!

Fielding questions on the “Historic Beginnings” (a.k.a. new author) panel at the Great Manhattan Mystery Conclave in Manhattan, Kansas.

Hanging out in the hot tub after the GMMC conference with fellow author Ami Elizabeth Reeves, her cousin Jill, and fellow author Patricia Sprinkle.

A dream-come-true at the Magna Cum Murder conference in Muncie, Indiana. Thanks to an incredibly giving (and sweet) person, I had the opportunity to speak to the woman who propelled my writing aspirations in the direction of mysteries--Mary Higgins Clark. That phone conversation is a moment in time I will never forget. Thanks, Harlan!

Susan McBride and I had a blast playing celebrity bartenders at "Celebrate Central"--a charity fundraiser for the St. Louis Public Library's Homework Helpers program. Susan, of course, is hard at work while I'm enjoying accolades from someone I'd just handed a drink. I tell you, I pour a mean diet coke...just ask Myles (he's the real bartender in the background who was around in case we tried to poison someone).

This celebrity bartending stuff was quite the gig! Here's Susan and I with fellow bartender, Nikko Smith. Nikko, son of baseball hall of famer Ozzie Smith, was an American Idol finalist in Idol 4. In addition to an amazing voice, Nikko is an all around nice guy to tend bar with.
