Spring 2008

I’m glad you stopped by for a visit!

The past few months have been busy with several new writing projects occupying my time. One is a romance novel that captured my heart and simply wouldn’t let go, and the other is a suspense novel that gripped me from the first moment it began forming in my thoughts. As soon as they’re polished and ready to go, I’ll send them off to my agent to work her magic. Keep your fingers crossed for me…and be sure to check back from time to time to see if I have any news to report!

Signings/Programs:

I’m on the go over the next few months, attending the annual Malice Domestic conference in Washington D.C. in late April, and Deadly Ink in Parsippany, New Jersey in mid-June. As always, I’m looking forward to seeing my readers and meeting new ones, too! You can learn more about these and other events I’ll be attending on my events page.

I’m adding more book club discussions and speaking engagements to my calendar all the time, so if you’d like me to come and speak about my mystery series and/or writing, please drop me an email and I’ll see what I can do!

Finally, I’d like to call your attention to a very special group signing that will be taking place on April 12th at the Borders-Mid Rivers store in St. Peters, Missouri. Authors Heather Webber, Judy Merrill Larsen, Shelley Galloway, and Melanie Lynne Hauser will be in town to participate in a panel discussion at the store with me that afternoon. They’ll also be sticking around to take part in the M.S. walk the next day. We’re hoping to raise lots of funds for those suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. If you’d like to learn more about, or donate to the M.S. Association via our team, check out our webpage.

More News:

Dreaming about being a writer? Or wondering how some of your favorite authors got their start?  If you answered “yes” to either of those questions, you might want to check out the brand new book, How I Got Published, a Writer’s Digest book by Duane Lindsay and Ray White. In this book, you’ll find personally written success stories by a host of authors including; Barry Eisler, Clive Cussler, C.J. Box, J.A. Jance, William Kent Krueger and lots more (including me and my essay, “Little, But Mighty”).

P.S. Don’t forget to check out the Good Girls Kill For Money Club. This group blog consists of five mystery writers from across the country. We blog daily (I’m the Tuesday blogger) on everything and anything, and we LOVE to hear from our readers.

**Here’s what some of my readers are saying…**

"I was at your book signing in June at Borders, and I purchased your new novel, Marked by Fate. I have to admit I did not figure out who did it, until a page before you revealed the murderer. The story was excellent. I can't wait for the next Jenkins/Burns mystery. I can't imagine what is going to happen next. :)

I had a book autographed for my grandmother and she is just now starting to read the first story. I felt the need to pass along the books to my mother and other grandmother and we have all enjoyed them. I will be sure to check your website to find out about future books.

Thanks the hours of reading enjoyment, and it was really nice meeting you!"

"I just wanted to let you know that I took your new book, "Marked by Fate", on vacation with me. It was so great, that I couldn't put it down until I was to the very last page. I HAD to know who did it. Your descriptions keep it rolling along at a fast pace that makes it hard to put down. You definitely have another winner on your hands. I LOVED it!!! Are you sure you don't need a manager yet? Anyway, keep doing what you do best and WRITE!!!"

"Laura,

Jury of One was a great read! Your characters were interesting and real, your story had just enough twists & turns to keep it very interesting, and it all held together wonderfully. Outstanding First Book!!"

"I just finished reading “Jury of One” and it was so intriguing I couldn’t put it down. I want to move on to the next one now. I love the Patricia Cornwell Kay Scarpetta series and this one by Laura is a close measure to it. It may be my next series favorite! Where can I get “Forecast of Evil?”"

"I was recently in St. Peters visiting with friends and of course we had to go to Old Town. While a couple of my friends went to the quilt shop, I and another friend went to Main Street Books. I was looking for a good summer read for the plane trip home. I picked up your book, Jury of One, and bought it. When we all got back together at my friend’s house, I pulled out the book to show everyone, and my friend said "I know Laura". My friend is Jeannie Goff who used to work at the Journal. What a small world we live in.

When I found out that Jeannie knows you, I made another trip to the book store and bought your second book.

I just finished, Jury of One, and LOVED it. I am anxious to start the next one.

PLEASE keep writing. You now have a new fan!!! I plan to ready everything you write.

I LOVE to read and am always looking for new authors. I am so glad that I found you and your books. Great Job."

"I purchased, Jury of One, at the Printer's Row Book Fair (in Chicago) and fell in love with the characters of Elise and Mitch. So I purchased your new book, Forecast of Evil, and loved that also. Cannot wait for other books from you. Thank you for the great reading."
